What is studio davidpompa?

Founded in 2013 with a showroom and production located in Mexico City. We are a team of designers, engineers and makers based in Mexico and Austria.

The idea of working with Mexican craft started with a trip to Oaxaca in 2009 where David saw artisans work with “Barro Negro” for the first time. He immediately started working and experimenting with the material, which led to his first collection. Since then we, as a Studio, have been committed to the creation of design objects, which are both beautifully crafted and accessible.

We combine traditional materials and crafts with our passion for perfection. The deep respect for materials and for craftsmen drives us as a brand to redefine Mexican craft.

At Studio davidpompa we love to challenge materials and to unwrap their intriguing nature, showing the beauty of imperfection. Developing original objects with an honest and rich character drives us as a brand. Our aim is to reinterpret our culture, to have a deeper understanding of our history, expressed in the transformation of materials with a timeless visual language. We are motivated by strong personal relationships with the most talented people, exchanging knowledge within various disciplines, using design as a conversation. For us having transparency in our work and every step of our production is essential. As a team we share a meaningful purpose and thrive to work within an exciting environment.

Where is your showroom?

Our showroom is in the heart of Mexico City as well as our production. Both are located in Roma Norte, a neighborhood constructed mainly at the beginning of the 20th century, with French-style buildings, our space being one of them.

Where are your handcrafted products made?

Assembly and shipping are made in our workshop located at Colima 264, in the Roma Norte neighborhood, at the heart of Mexico City. Components of our lamps are meticulously crafted by our talented craftsmen, who are based in various locations across Mexico, depending on the material.

Where can I buy your products?

You have several options for purchasing our products: you can visit our showroom, place an order directly by contacting us via email or phone, or reach out to any of our official distributors to inquire about product availability.

Is there a location where I can view your displayed lights?

You can visit our showroom in Mexico City. We recommend calling the showroom before to inquire if the specific piece you are interested in is currently on display.

How long is the cable included with the lamp?

Our pendant lights come with a standard cable length of 2 meters, which is adjustable. If you require additional length beyond the standard 2 meters, it can be adjusted upon request.

How can lamps be utilized outside of Mexico?

Please don't forget to inform us of the intended location for the lamps when placing your order, especially if they will be installed outside of Mexico, to ensure the correct electrical components are provided.

What is included in my my davidpompa lamp?

Yes, LED bulbs and everything necessary for proper installation is included. For pendant lights, ceiling canopies are also provided.

Additionally, we recommend using mini junction boxes for our lights due to the size of the canopies.

Can the lamps be used outdoors?

Our collection is IP20, indoor only, please contact us for custom projects.

Can I receive samples of any of your products or materials?

Product samples can be ordered, please contact our sales team for further information.

Are the lamps available for purchase as single pendants or as a chandelier?

Our lamps are available for individual purchase as single pendants, each one has its own ceiling rose. However, if you're interested in creating a chandelier arrangement, you can ask for one of our canopies. Our range of canopies allows you to effortlessly create group arrangements with any of our pendant lamps.

How to build your canopy

What is a canopy?

A canopy is a fixture designed to enable you to mount your lamp onto a ceiling. Please note that canopies are not included with the purchase of our lamps. Standard finishes are black, and white powder coated aluminum. Our canopies come in square, round, and rectangular shapes, available in various sizes.

How can I customize my chandelier?

You can hang your pendant lamps in different heights and positions to design your own chandelier. Please don't hesitate to call us to discuss your needs.

Can pendant lamps turn into wall lamps?

Almost all our pendant lamps can have our wall fixture, please contact us for further information.

Can I customize a product?

We regret to inform you that we are unable to make alterations to the original design. However, please feel free to contact us in order to find the best way to assist you.

Installation

How can I install my lamp?

Every pendant lamp can be hung as a single pendant or in a chandelier composition. We offer ready-made compositions in various canopy sizes and finishes such as chrome, black or white metal. Individual customized chandeliers are available on special request.

How do I install my single pendant?

Each lamp is ready to be installed, in each package there are installation guidelines, if you still have doubts regarding installation, please don´t hesitate to contact us, we will gladly help you.

Can you help me with the installation?

Unfortunately, we do not offer installation services.

Is it difficult to install a chandelier?

Don't worry! Our large chandeliers come ready to install. The cable length and wiring are all set up and ready to use, and they can be adjusted if needed.

Quotes and payment

Which forms of payment do you accept?

You can pay via wire transfer, bank deposit, check deposit on bank account, credit or debit card at the store or in cash up to $10,000 pesos. *Note, architects who receive a discount cannot pay by credit card.

How do I get a quote or pricelist?

Do you offer special discounts for architects and designers?

We do have a professional program, please contact us for more information.

Shipping and lead time

What are my shipping options?

Our trusted delivery company is DHL, if you require another shipping company you can arrange a pick up at our showroom, in which case, we won´t be held responsible if the product doesn´t arrive in optimal conditions.

Do you ship internationally?

We ship worldwide, you can contact us directly to place your order.

Will my package be standard?

Packaging will be adjusted to your needs, if it is a local delivery or pick up, we will pack in stable carton boxes. If it is a national or international delivery, we adjust the packaging also using wooden frames if necessary and provide, at no extra cost, PVC pallets for longer deliveries provided by studio davidpompa.

What if my product is damaged on arrival?

Our products are thoroughly inspected and carefully packed before leaving our facility. If you receive products in a damaged condition, whether the damage is apparent or concealed, claims must be made in writing within 3 days of receiving the goods. Attach a clear record of this, along with photographs.

What are the lead times and do you have stock?

You can find all lead times on our product pages. Where there is a delay or likelihood of delay in the supply of products, we will advise you as soon as practicable.

Product care and replacement parts

How do I clean my canopy/wall fixture?

For dusting and light cleaning of hard surfaces use a soft, damp cloth. Gently wipe the surface then immediately use a dry cloth to wipe the surface again. Do not use abrasive or acidic household cleaning products. For the best maintenance of the product, protect it against sunlight and heat, and try to keep it away from moisture, grease and dirt.

How do I clean the different materials of my products?

Can I purchase replacement parts?

We can sell you any broken or damaged parts, please contact us directly to get advice.

How do I get a replacement bulb?

You can contact us directly or you can purchase replacement bulbs at any store selling standard light bulbs.

Are the prices displayed on your website?

Yes, they are visible on our website. If you need a formal quote or our price list, please feel free to send us an email at sales@davidpompa.com

What certifications do your products have?

Our products have CE certification for Europe and NOM certification for Mexico.

How do I pay my taxes?

For Mexican customers, taxes in MXN are visible and included in your quotes. If you require an invoice, please provide complete billing information, including a 'Constancia de situación fiscal actualizada' and 'Uso de CFDI'.

For international customers, kindly note that you are responsible for any taxes, import fees, and duties that may be incurred upon the arrival of your order. If you require an invoice, please provide us complete billing information, including your TAX number. Please be advised that for orders up to 5,000 USD, providing complete billing information is mandatory.

Are all the pieces of the same model identical?

Variations in color, shape, surface, texture and size are natural characteristics of hand-made products and should be expected.
