Studio davidpompa presented Materia México, an exhibition that highlights the richness of Mexican craftsmanship by showcasing the depth of traditional materials embodied in light. Part of Euroluce, Salone del Mobile during Milan Design Week 2025, Materia México reflects studio davidpompa’s deep material research and modern reinterpretation of traditional techniques. With a strong focus on material exploration and the artisanal process, the exhibition merges Mexican culture with timeless aesthetics, creating distinctive lighting sculptures that highlight the natural beauty of raw materials. Eight collections will unfold in a space of textures. For the first time, our full collection will be presented in Europe, with Cilia, Cobá, and Nilia making their debut.
The studio offered tamales and atole to the visitors—a deeply rooted tradition in Mexican culture. In contrast to the european breakfast of bread and coffee, davidpompa aims to bring a part of the essence of Mexico's unique breakfast culture, where food it’s an experience of connection and warmth.
The exhibition unfolded through a series of architectural volumes, each dedicated to distinct materials. Visitors were welcomed by a small window with a subtle yet powerful reference to traditional Mexican architecture. The space will offer a sensorial journey, incorporating a culinary experience inspired by the natural materials used in lighting pieces. A key element of this concept is a 20-kilo solid chocolate sculpture, designed to resemble a raw rock. Visitors can break off pieces of the chocolate, engaging with the transformation of a raw material through both texture and taste.

THE TASTE OF MATERIALS
A series created in collaboration with the talented filmmaker Wolf Lass.
Just as materials define a culture, flavors tell its story. “The Taste of Materials” series explores the dialogue between craftsmanship and tradition, where every texture, like every ingredient, carries history.
